Hi from Barb! :)

Well, as my dear husband said, it was quite a LONG drive getting across half the country! But well worth it when we finally got to Arizona! It was great visiting with Jenny and my sister, Bobbie. Jenny took me to visit both of her jobs and meet her friends and see her cute apartment. Now I will have a picture in my head when I think of her in these places. :) I really miss her and wish we could have visited longer, but that will be another trip...

We left Phoenix and headed up to Cottonwood where we spent a couple of hours with my dear friend, Lottie Olson. I saw her beautiful home and now know why she won't be moving back to Hudson. :( She was so kind and took us out to eat at a Grill place and we had the BEST food! Just imagine... banana bread pudding with rum sauce... :))) Lottie, I love you and miss you!

We drove through Sedona and what a beautiful part of the country, but let me tell you, driving through mountains with hairpin curves is NOT my cup of tea at all!!! I discovered I have a severe fear of heights! I think a couple of times I actually screamed... or was that in my head? I am just praying that we won't be doing that again!

Then we saw the Grand Canyon and were lucky enough to get there at sunset... it was breathtaking! So much that we are doing I have seen and done before, although many years ago. But it's like experiencing it again the first time watching the reactions of these 3 Swedes I am with. For example, the first time they see a butte or cactus they are in such a hurry to photograph it, thinking they won't be seeing another one, only to be bombarded with them the next few hours, lol. I remember doing the same thing my first time seeing the west. :)

Hoover Dam we saw at night and it was awesome! Kind of cool cause we were literally the only ones there. We may go back to see it again during the day... we'll see. Then a few miles later we come over a hill and there is Las Vegas, lit up as only Vegas can be (is there a reason it's so close to Hoover Dam? hehe). The strip is really something to see, isn't it? I am glad they all got to see it for the first time at night, what an experience!

Today, the *boys* went to a Star Trek Experience and I napped... and napped! Man, did that feel good! Now they are back after having walked the entire strip, soaking their feet and I am ready and raring to go...

So, that's it for now. I'm sure I will be writing more later, but for now, signing off!

Wow, during the last two days we've seen two of the most spectacular views a person can see.
First we reached the Grand Canyon at 7 PM, the weather was freezing but the visual impact
was just totally awesome. After that we headed to Vegas, that we drove into at 1 AM and let
me tell you: Vegas is the paradise for lightbulb makers. It was obvious....

Yesterday:
I woke up at 5am local time in Phoenix after a well deserved sleep, I guess my daily rythm was all messed up cuz of the driving and being up all night to drive.
Barb spent the day with Jenny and me, Stefan and Mattias went to explore the surroundings. We ended up at this big mall where we found shade from the sun, dang it was hot outside... We spent the majority of the time in the mall at GameWorx a arcade place playing video games, had a lot of fun! After that it was time for food. We met up with Barb and Jenny + har friend and our host (Barb's sister) for some food. We ate at a place called Claimjumpers, man the porterhouse was and is good!! ( Leftovers u know.) The evening was spent chatting and just relaxing.

Today:
I just got up and got some java in me.... It is FREEZING!! it's like in the 60's. Oh well, the next step will be to get in the truck and head fro Flagstaff and Grand Canyon, and I'm really hoping to reach Vegas tonight.

More of todays adventures and pictures from yesterday and today when we settle down in vegas. VIVA LAS VEGAS!!

Alrighty then... We left, we came, we saw and we concured!

We left at 7:30PM from home in Wisconsin.. by the time we hit the Minnesota/Iowa border we
were bored beyond belief! And that was just the start. Countless miles and many driver switches
we arrived at our destination Phoenix, AZ.

The trip was ok but LOOONG! My feet swelled up cuz of sitting imobilized for hours at end.
Greasy hair, smelly feet, swetty clothing.... man! The shower I took when I arrived to my
sister-in-law's place was just about the best thing so far on this trip.

Thank god the truck behaved well and managed to do well under the hours of 75mph stetches we drove.

STICKERSHOCK!!! almost $650 to fix the brakes on the truck! Dang! Oh well.. It's done.

Trying to get the truck ready for the trip... A spare key for it is a total of $54 !!! Outrageous!

I don't even want to think about the price on them installing a lock switch that broke. The part itself is like $16 but who knows about the labor!

I got the airtickets sent to me this thursday, everything's in order so far.. There's still plenty of time to go shopping for a suitcase. Now I'm just waiting for Stefan to pay me his half of the price.

The weather is fianlly turning warmer... Spring is coming!
This coming weekend I will have to wash the truck and give it some wax to make it look all spiffy.

I also redid the temporary main page to WardAvenue. Now I'm just waitng for my brother to make the permanent page.
